The BMW Oil & Safety Service
What You Need to Know
For your BMW vehicle to perform at its best, it needs to go through its factory scheduled maintenance services. These services ensure that regardless of how long you’ve been driving your BMW, it’ll be performing at its best. One of the required services is the Oil & Safety Service, which is a regular check-up for your Bimmer. This service not only inspects your vehicle’s safety features, but it also ensures that the oil it’s using is in good condition. Here’s what you can expect from this service:
Intermediate Oil Change Service
The service begins with an inspection of your BMW’s motor oil. Unlike other vehicles that can use any type of oil, BMW’s must utilize an approved synthetic motor oil to perform at their best. During the services, our technicians will inspect the quality of the oil, check the oil level, and replace the oil filter. If the oil is not up to standards, our technicians will simply replace it and add in a fresh batch of the approved synthetic motor oil.
When Do You Need The Service?
Service will vary based on how old your vehicle is. If your BMW model year is between 1999 through 2013, then you’ll need to have it serviced every 15,000 miles. If your BMW is 2014 and newer, you’ll only need to have it changed every 10,000 miles. With that said, this should not be the standard interval, as it may vary based on driving conditions.
As a rule of thumb, you should have this service performed every 7,500 miles or when the Service Indicator Lights say that you are due. You can also use the owner’s manual in your BMW to provide you with a precise mileage interval for your make and model.
Regardless of what BMW you drive, make sure you bring your vehicle in for an oil change service! Motor oil is the lifeblood of the engine and without it, the engine could quickly fall into a state of disrepair. For all your BMW oil change needs, make sure you schedule a visit with IMA Motorwerke in Chantilly, Virginia!
